Staying warm and dry won’t be easy for anyone heading outdoors this week.

Los Angeles County is expected to be pelted by rain, rain and more rain today through Friday, with periodic breaks and a few peeps of sunshine.

“It’s looking pretty wet,” said Guy Pearson, forecast meteorologist for WeatherData Inc. “Have an umbrella handy, because it’ll get a workout this week.”

Today, between 0.2 to 1 inch of rainfall with possible thunderstorms is expected around most of Los Angeles County, Pearson said. Foothill areas of mountain ranges could receive as much as 2 inches. Highs will be in the mid- to upper 50s with overnight lows in the 40s.

On Tuesday, cool temperatures will continue. Some sun may break through the cloudy skies with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s and overnight lows in the 40s.

The snowfall level in the San Gabriel Mountains could drop to about 4,000 feet.

Drizzly weather returns on Wednesday. The day is expected to be breezy with warmer overnight lows in the 50s.

There should be sunshine between periods of cloudy skies on Thursday and Friday, Pearson said. But there is also a good chance of showers on both days. Those days should be slightly warmer, with highs possibly hitting the mid-60s with lows between the mid-40s and low 50s.
