Matasareanu Lawsuit

Share

Reading the report of former LAPD Officer John Futrell (Feb. 18) testifying in the Matasareanu lawsuit is revealing. Either Futrell was an incompetent police officer who could not evaluate gunshot wounds or he is lying in his testimony. I am a registered nurse and have in the past cared for many patients who have been charged with serious crimes, including murder and bank robbery. It has never been my prerogative to provide them with a lesser degree of skilled, compassionate care than I would a newborn baby. That simply isn’t how it works.

And police officers do not have the right to administer the death penalty to suspects on the street. We recognize the police deal with situations of great danger and are under great stress and we are grateful for their protection and courage. But we expect them to act properly because of the great power they have. It is bad enough the suspect was obviously left to bleed to death, but those responsible are not brave enough to tell the truth and admit it.

Tell Emil Matasareanu’s kids and lawyer to wake up. The Los Angeles Police Department had 11 officers down and seven civilians injured. Don’t think for a second that the scumbag who was responsible for this would be given cuts to the front of the line. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out who should get the first ambulance.

The bank robber’s kids and lawyer are the only people on Earth who don’t think those officers are heroes.
