Activist Sworn In to State Board Post

San Fernando Valley activist Robert M. Vinson was sworn in Wednesday to a post on the California Export Finance Board.

The swearing-in ceremony was at Rep. Brad Sherman’s (D-Sherman Oaks) district office in Woodland Hills.

The 35-year-old Vinson, a West Hills resident, owns an urban redevelopment firm that specializes in providing affordable housing in the San Fernando Valley. He has lectured on development issues for USC’s School of Policy, Planning and Development.

He was appointed to the board in January by Assembly Speaker Antonio Villaraigosa, who is a Los Angeles mayoral candidate.

The 11-member board has several responsibilities, including administering millions of dollars in loans to California-based export businesses.

Vinson’s term expires Dec. 31, 2001.
