ESAT to Acquire PacificNet and Affiliate

ESAT Inc., Fountain Valley provider of satellite-based information delivery systems, said Friday that it agreed to acquire PacificNet Technologies Inc. and its affiliate, InterWireless Inc. Financial terms were not disclosed. Based in North Hollywood, PacificNet Technologies was formed in 1995 to provide dial-up Internet access to take advantage of the explosive demand for Internet services by individuals and businesses. The company then developed its own operating software for Internet access, billing and on-line verification of credit cards to automate online subscription. The InterWireless unit, a provider of wireless Internet services, was formed in 1997.
