Ex-President Bush Leaves Hospital
Former President Bush checked out of the hospital Saturday after spending a second night undergoing tests for an irregular heartbeat.
Bush, 75, was discharged from Methodist Hospital about 9:30 a.m., said his spokeswoman, Jean Becker.
Bush made no statement on his departure, but Dr. Ben Orman, his personal physician, said the former president continues to be treated with medication for an irregular heartbeat.
Bush went directly to his Houston office to catch up on some work and read his e-mail, said Becker.
Bush had complained Thursday afternoon about lightheadedness at a photo opportunity in Naples, Fla.
He spent the night at Naples Community Hospital, where he underwent tests and was given intravenous blood thinners and other medication, before checking in at Methodist.
Doctors had said they will investigate whether the condition is being caused by Bush’s thyroid disorder, called Graves’ disease. The disease was blamed for a similar episode Bush suffered while jogging in May 1991.
Bush recently has campaigned for his son, Texas Gov. George W. Bush, who is seeking the GOP presidential nomination.
