Nine residents will vie for three open seats on the five-member council in a local April 11 election.
The three incumbents are Victor Kay, Brenda Ross and Ann Snider. The hopefuls are Robert Bouer, Helen Mencher, Jan Nelson McLaughlin, Juel Andersen, Jacqueline Carey and Mary Stone.
Many of the candidates’ issues, of course, pivot around their senior status. Some say they want to use Leisure World as a sounding board for these issues and make it a role model for other cities with large retirement communities.
