Carolyn Wente, Wente Vineyards “I had a brand-new wine--a 1996 Steven Kent Cabernet Sauvignon blend. It’s a Livermore Valley wine. I had it in a blind tasting of some various big hitters in the California Cabernet world. It was totally awesome. It was very supple and well-balanced with nice, big tannins in balance--an elegant wine. It stood out among the rest, which were more tannic and muscular and chewy. I served it on New Year’s Eve with a standing rib roast.”
