Art Forms

Television allowed me to experience millennium celebrations from around the globe. I marveled at the diversity of instrumental compositions, choral offerings and human movement choreographed in dance. It was incredible that every country proudly included at least one of these art forms in presenting its message to the world. Music truly unified humanity on Jan. 1, 2000!

Isn’t it ironic that most schools suffer from benign neglect with respect to almost all aspects of the arts? I wonder if Jan. 1, 3000, will be celebrated with silence.
