240 WTO Protest Cases Are Dropped
All but 40 of 280 unresolved misdemeanor cases stemming from demonstrations during the World Trade Organization meetings last month are being dropped, the Seattle city attorney said. An unspecified number of people still face felony charges of property damage and burglary for allegedly smashing windows, painting graffiti and looting downtown stores during the unrest that clogged the city during the meetings, City Atty. Mark Sidran said. About 210 of the 525 total misdemeanor charges have been resolved, Sidran said.
