The 49ers (8-3) overcame 36% shooting and took advantage of Kansas State’s 29 turnovers.

Long Beach State, which had shot 58% over its last five games, was held to 27% in the first half by the Wildcats, who led the nation in field-goal defense last year.

But Kansas State (7-4) committed 20 turnovers in the first half and led only 27-24 at halftime.

Galen Morrison scored five points on consecutive possessions to give Kansas State its largest first-half lead at 19-11 with 8:05 left.

Morrison led Kansas State with 18 points, including four-for-four three-point shooting.
