The Yorba Linda Arts Alliance held its first official meeting Saturday and will file for nonprofit status this week, said Gabriella Rollins, founder and executive director.

The alliance plans to support local artists and groups by compiling a community arts directory, creating and publishing a calendar of events in the city and exploring the possibility of creating combined cultural events in the future. Among the group’s long-term goals are establishing a local community arts center, identifying locations where groups can perform or exhibit artwork, and putting together art programs for children.

Members on Saturday elected 10 interim board members, who will be replaced once the organization’s bylaws are written, Rollins said. Information: (714) 792-0998.
