Informix Corp. settled charges it fraudulently inflated revenue by $295 million and boosted earnings by $244 million during the mid-1990s, the Securities and Exchange Commission said. The agency alleged that the database software maker, through former employees, manipulated its earnings and revenue from 1994 through the first quarter of 1997. Informix also submitted misleading filings with the commission and violated books and records laws, the SEC said. The Menlo Park, Calif.-based company admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement. Informix shares slipped 88 cents to close at $9.38 on Nasdaq.
