The Planning Commission this week approved plans for a Robbins Bros. Engagement Ring Store at the former Wells Fargo bank building on the corner of Avery Parkway and Marguerite Parkway. The permit is subject to final approval from the Community Development staff on the number and types of signs used on the building.

Steve Robbins, one of the store’s founders, said that each of the chain’s five specialty jewelry stores average about $7 million a year in sales and produce about $70,000 in sales tax revenue for the cities in which they are located. The commission approved a plan for the store with the condition that the signs on the store be reduced from 350 square feet to 250 square feet and that no neon be allowed unless it is covered by clear or translucent plastic.
