Ueberroth, Myers Join Hilton Board

Hilton Hotels Corp., owner of Hilton hotels in the U.S., named General Electric Investment Corp. Chief Executive John Myers and former baseball commissioner Peter Ueberroth to its board.
Myers and Ueberroth join Beverly Hills-based Hilton from the board of Promus Hotel Corp. Hilton acquired Promus, owner of the Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn chains, last month for $3.7 billion. Myers, 54, heads GE’s money-management subsidiary, which invests $100 billion for individuals, institutional investors and GE’s own pension trust. Ueberroth, 62, was commissioner of Major League Baseball from 1980 through ’84 and headed the committee that organized the 1984 Olympic Games in L.A. Ueberroth is now managing director of Contrarian Group, an investment and business management company, and co-chairman of Pebble Beach Co., owner the Pebble Beach Gold Links in California.
Hilton shares fell 19 cents to close at $9.06 on the New York Stock Exchange.
