The Short End

Re “He’s Talking--Are You Listening?” (by Paul Brownfield, Jan. 3): Almost nobody in the real world is interested in Martin Short. Yes, he is a good character actor, but not one person I have ever met finds him particularly remarkable. His super actor’s ego would have him believe that someone would actually read his book. Are you kidding? No wonder his show isn’t making it!

Regarding the possible cancellation of Short’s show: the sooner the better. Without a script, he is not at all funny. With the glut of talk shows, he offers nothing original, and at the age of 49 he’s trying too hard to be hip.

“The Martin Short Show”: not short enough.
