Pennzoil to Expand Its Moorpark Unit

Pennzoil-Quaker State Co., which markets more than 1,300 car-care products, has agreed to buy Sagaz Industries, the top maker of automobile seat covers and cushions in the U.S. and Canada, for an undisclosed price.

Miami-based Sagaz will become part of Pennzoil’s Axius unit in Moorpark. Axius sells more than 200 vehicle accessories, including sun protectors, steering-wheel covers and auto organizers.

Axius expects to keep Sagaz’s manufacturing and distribution plants in Acuna, Mexico, and Del Rio, Texas, and its floor-mat plant in Jackson, Miss.

Closely held Sagaz is expected to have sales of about $40 million this year, Pennzoil said. The companies plan to complete the transaction by March 31.
