Share

Computer monitor manufacturer ViewSonic Corp. of Walnut tentatively agreed to buy the monitor-making division of Nokia, the Finnish maker of cellular phones. The companies said they have a letter of intent and hope to complete the deal by the end of January. Terms weren’t disclosed. The acquisition of Nokia Display Products would boost privately held ViewSonic’s market share in Europe and expand its customer base among companies in the high-end computer graphics field, said Peter Weedfald, ViewSonic’s executive vice president for marketing and business strategies. Nokia shares fell $5.13 Tuesday, to $178.88, on the New York Stock Exchange.
