Incompetence
William Schneider says, “Maybe, people are beginning to believe, the federal government can do something right” (Opinion, Jan. 9). Possibly, but other evidence--deregulated airlines becoming as much of a target for comedians as the DMV and the post office used to be; banks, HMOs, etc. coming under increased fire; the roundhouse blows delivered to corporate management by the creator of “Dilbert”--seems to indicate that the people now realize that the private sector is every bit as capable of fouling things up as the public sector.
