Federal law enforcement officials released a photograph Wednesday of a woman they believe robbed a Washington Mutual Bank branch in the 600 block of West Channel Islands Boulevard in Port Hueneme last week.

The photograph came from a bank surveillance tape that recorded the robbery, which occurred about noon Jan. 12, according to the FBI.

The robber stood in line with other customers before being called forward by a teller, authorities said.

The robber handed the teller a deposit slip with $10,000 written on it and a letter stating: “This is a holdup, do not look around, do not push any buttons, I know who you are and what kind of vehicle you drive, and I’ll take your life, put $10,000 in the bag.”

The robber then told the teller that it was a robbery and handed her a black plastic grocery bag. The robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash stuffed under her sweatshirt, authorities said.

The robber was described as a Latina in her late 30s or early 40s, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8, 150 pounds and a medium build. She had dark wavy hair that was styled into a bun and was wearing a dark blue long-sleeved sweatshirt with white letters stating “Duke,” faded blue jeans and possibly a fanny pack.

Anyone with information should call the FBI at 642-3995 or any local police station.
