Arkan
Regarding the killing of the Serb war criminal “Arkan,” Zeljko Raznatovic (Jan. 16): The old saying “He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword” (in this case, guns) couldn’t be more true. That he was shot in the eye is even more fitting, since that was one of his and his paramilitary’s preferred ways of torturing and killing hundreds of civilians in Croatia and later in Bosnia, by gouging their eyes out with knives, among other unspeakable tortures. He escaped justice at the war crimes tribunal, but he is before a greater judge now.
