Workshops Focus on Personal Finance

Weighed down by debt?

Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Los Angeles will hold a series of personal finance workshops beginning Feb. 8 at its Granada Hills office.

Counselors will offer tips on budgeting, investing, car buying, maintaining financial records, correcting credit reports and proper credit card use during the free series that runs through March 30.

Organizers have planned several workshops to help consumers prevent and solve debt problems:

* “Clean Up Your Credit Report,” 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Feb. 8, March 8 and 30.

* “Budgeting 101,” 10:15 a.m. to noon Feb. 12 and March 25; 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Feb. 17.

* “Strategies for Success,” 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Feb. 12 and March 25; 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Feb. 29.

* “Using Credit and Reducing Debt,” 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Feb. 28.

* “Piggy Banks to Portfolios,” 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. March 15.

* “How to Buy a Car and Not Get Taken for a Ride,” 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. March 1.
