Xena and Lesbians

Laura Accinelli blatantly omitted the words “lesbian” and “gay” in her article on “Xena: Warrior Princess” (“Lucy Lawless: Queen of Camp, Reluctant Feminist Role Model,” Jan. 15). Contrary to public opinion, many lesbian women are being impregnated, giving birth and raising children.

Without Xena’s vast lesbian following, the show would probably not still be with us. Lucy Lawless acknowledged her huge gay audience in an interview in the Advocate. It’s sad that Accinelli chose to ignore those hundreds of thousands of fans.
