Police Seek Public’s Help to Find Burglar
Police are seeking help in apprehending a burglar who has been preying upon senior citizens in a Port Hueneme community.
Since Wednesday, three break-ins have occurred at the Hueneme Bay community, near Ventura Road and Channel Islands Boulevard.
On Wednesday night, a woman was awakened in her home by an intruder shining a flashlight in her face. Later that night, a burglar broke into another home, stole a purse and tried to steal a car. The next day, a garage was burglarized in the same community, according to the Port Hueneme Police Department.
Witnesses describe a suspect as a tall, thin white male with a hooded sweatshirt, possibly driving a two-tone blue, full-size van.
Authorities are unsure whether the same man has committed the crimes. Anyone with information about these crimes can call 385-TALK. Informants may remain anonymous and could receive a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
