Equity, Fund Listings Offer More Data

Share

The Times has revised its Sunday stock and mutual fund listings, with the aim of making some data easier to read and more relevant. Among the key changes:

* An expanded “Weekend Market Roundup” includes more money rates, money market fund yields and extra information on well-known stocks in several categories. It appears today on C8.

* The largest 80 companies headquartered in Southern California, as well as the local stocks that rose or fell the most in the previous week, also are on the new roundup page.

* Nasdaq, Nasdaq Small Cap and American Stock Exchange stocks are combined in one table; the largest stocks on those exchanges are highlighted with more information.

* Several hundred more mutual funds are shown on Sunday. See note on C13.

* Type has been made more readable where possible.

* Stocks are now priced in decimals rather than in fractions, which make the tables easier to read and simplifies calculations. Later this year, all U.S. markets plan to make the switch to decimals for official prices.

* Several of these innovations also appear in the daily edition. See https://www.latimes.com/markets for more information.
