New Superintendent

After reading the announcement of the search committee members for the position of LAUSD superintendent (Jan. 22), I keep asking myself why there are so many individuals who have not seen the inside of a classroom for many, many years? Eli Broad is a great philanthropist, but what does he know about education?

I propose the inclusion of exemplary administrators like cluster leader Richard Alonzo, or principal Maxine Matlen of Fair Avenue Elementary School, or veteran teacher Rose White of Leo Politi. Certainly the soldiers of this educational crusade could add some wisdom.
