* Angelo Romagnino; Had Defense Dept. Career

Angelo Romagnino, who served in the military during World War II and worked for the Department of Defense until his retirement, died Tuesday at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura. He was 84.

Romagnino was born on Nov. 28, 1915, in Wilmore, Pa., and attended school in New York.

Later he served in the Army, and after the war began working for the Army Corps of Engineers at the Department of Defense.

He moved to the San Fernando Valley after retiring in 1973, and in 1980 moved to Ventura.

Romagnino enjoyed spending time with his family and was proud of his Italian heritage. Recently he spent three weeks in Italy with relatives. He was also involved in Sacred Heart Church’s Italian Catholic Federation.

His recreational pastimes included weekly golf and bowling. He also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.

His wife of 53 years, Lenore, died in 1992.

He is survived by daughters Angela Frattellone of New Jersey and Joyce Cattanach of Ventura; sisters Helene DeFranco and Emma Carriffe of New Jersey; brother John of Florida; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the Joseph Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura. The Rosary will be recited there at 7 tonight.

The Mass of Christian burial is scheduled Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ventura. Entombment will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Ventura.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura.
