Owner of Condo in Drug Busts Agrees to Sell Unit

CHATSWORTH — A condominium that had been the scene of several drug arrests is being sold by its owner as part of a lawsuit settlement, authorities announced Friday.
The suit was filed by the Citywide Nuisance Abatement Program last year after police surveillance resulted in multiple arrests at the condo, according to the Los Angeles city attorney’s office.
Under the settlement agreement, Margaret Keeler of North Hills must vacate and sell the property at 10125 De Soto Ave., which had been occupied by her daughter, Mary Keeler.
Problems first surfaced in December 1997, when investigators determined that Thomas Rendell died in the condo from the combined effects of methamphetamines and morphine, said Deputy City Atty. Asha Greenberg.
An investigation by officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division led to repeated arrests at the condo on narcotics charges, Greenberg said.
