Global Positioning?

I can’t say I’m surprised, but I am disappointed that you let the following be published: “As handsome as an aging character actor, the 60-year-old [Helmut] Voss strokes his Sean Connery-like beard” (“As the Golden Globes Turn,” by Aljean Harmetz, Jan. 23).

Now L.A. wouldn’t be L.A. without some kissing up, but what The Times stands to gain from this drivel--priority seating at the Golden Globes ceremonies, perhaps?--hardly outweighs any embarrassing loss in credibility.
