It’s still free to visit Hawaii’s Diamond Head State Monument on Oahu. A $1-per-person admission charge, which was scheduled to begin this month, has been delayed while the Hawaii Division of State Parks works out how to collect and process the fee. No new date had been set as of last week. . . . Philip Morris Cos. and other cigarette makers were sued this month by about 300 flight attendants who claim they became sick from inhaling secondhand smoke and did not benefit from the $347-million settlement of a 1997 class-action suit over the same issue. The suit also accused the tobacco industry of failing to educate people adequately about the dangers of secondhand smoke. Philip Morris said it would “vigorously defend itself against the claims.” . . . The annual Philadelphia Flower Show will be March 5 to 12 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. This year’s show, called “Gardens for the New Millennium,” will feature futuristic garden designs.
