Police arrested a man suspected of carjacking a pickup truck Friday morning, forcing a man and his 5-year-old daughter out of the vehicle at gunpoint, and then trying to rob a paint store 20 minutes later.

Marco Garcia Aceves, 26, of Panorama City, allegedly stole the white Ford truck about 10:40 a.m. at the Amar Ranch Market at 8725 Sepulveda Blvd. in North Hills, said Sgt. John Dilibert of the Burbank Police Department.

Aceves then attempted to rob a Frazee Paint & Wallcovering store at 814 N. Victory Blvd. in Burbank, but fled without stealing anything, Dilibert said.

Police spotted the truck heading onto the northbound Golden State Freeway and arrested Aceves after a brief chase. He was wearing gloves and had a gun tucked into his waistband, Dilibert said.

Aceves was booked at the Burbank City Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $183,500 bail.
