Firefighters Yes, Bureaucrats No
* On June 21, you reported that the Orange County supervisors were pleased to grant raises of up to 19% to a number of paper-shuffling bureaucrats, ostensibly because the raises were needed to attract and retain quality bureaucrats, an oxymoron if ever there was one.
On June 24 you reported that Anaheim firefighters, who provide extremely valuable services to Anaheim residents, had won a 15% pay raise through binding arbitration.
You also reported that the “decision angered city officials, who say that the award is unjustified.”
I think that we need a new set of officials, with more appropriate priorities, at both the Orange County and Anaheim city levels.
