Did anyone ever think the day would come when one Dodger ballplayer would be worth more than Dodger Stadium?

Kevin Brown has a five-year, $105-million contract to pitch for the Dodgers. Tracy Ringolsby of Fox Sports notes that that makes Brown more valuable than Dodger Stadium and its surrounding 273 acres, which was valued at $99.921 million by the Los Angeles County tax assessor.

Worth a look: Pine Valley in New Jersey is generally considered the finest golf course in the country, perhaps the world. When British Walker Cup player Edward Storey first saw the opening hole, he said:

“Tell me, do you chaps actually play this hole, or do you just photograph it?”

Another world: “Mike Tyson is a pariah, a cancer, a threat to society and an insult to our intelligence,” says Jim Armstrong of the Denver Post. “Other than that, I can’t give you one reason why people like to watch him fight. It’s Jerry Springer’s world, folks. We just live in it.”

Help him out: Retired Miami Dolphin quarterback Dan Marino is selling one of his homes for $8 million.

The 13,278-square-foot Mediterranean-style mansion has nine bedrooms, 11 baths and two half-baths, and includes a temperature-controlled wine room, a marble-decked pool, and a garage big enough to hold a limousine.

Marino also owns a 7,000-square-foot home on the Intercoastal Waterway near Palm Beach, which he bought for $925,000 last year.

Skeptical: There are those who think the Clippers’ much-talked-about draft-day selections and trades won’t make any difference in the team. Why? Because of owner Donald Sterling, says Associated Press columnist Jim Litke.

“This is the man who put the woe in woeful, who put the Clippers in the basement and who will go out of his way to hire a coach on the cheap. When it comes to personnel, Sterling has made more bad decisions than Darva Conger.”

The power’s on: Home run king Hank Aaron thinks there is no limit on long balls. In the July 8 issue of TV Guide, he says his record of 755 homers is not out of reach.

“There will probably be some people who’ll resent anybody who breaks my record, people who saw me play and want to put an asterisk next to everything,” Aaron said. “They’ll say the ball was juiced or whatever. But home runs are home runs and it doesn’t matter who you hit them against.”

And finally: New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is ranked No. 2 behind actor George Clooney on People magazine’s list of “America’s 100 Most Eligible Bachelors.”

“If I had a daughter, Derek is the kind of guy that I would want her to marry,” said friend Alex Rodriguez, the Seattle Mariner shortstop who is also one of the elite 100.
