Rockers Win Game, Lose Star
Merlakia Jones misfired at the end of regulation but made a 15-foot jump shot from the left baseline with 18.5 seconds left in overtime to give the Cleveland Rockers (8-7) a 66-65 victory over the New York Liberty (7-9) Monday night before 9,646 at Cleveland.
“With time running down, I wanted the ball in my hands,” Jones said. “In that situation, everybody is a little chaotic, so I try to take advantage.”
Rocker leading scorer Eva Nemcova said before the game she will miss the rest of the season because of a torn knee ligament. Nemcova suffered the injury against the Sparks on Saturday.

Portland 68, Indianapolis 64--Sophia Witherspoon scored 20 points and led a second-half rally at Indianapolis as the Fire (4-10) ended a five-game road losing streak by defeating the Fever (3-12) before 12,060.
