A Burbank-based water filtration company charged with felony and misdemeanor violations concerning its sales tactics was ordered by an administrative law judge Friday to stop doing business in California.

The judge found that Everclear Water Systems and its owner, Aurora Elizabeth Vergara, were contracting without a license. Vergara agreed to the injunction.

The order prohibits the company from selling, soliciting, advertising, contracting for and installing water purification systems in California. It also prohibits Everclear from referring business to other businesses and individuals.

Everclear and its owner are suspected of defrauding as many as 2,000 customers in unlawful sales and installations of water filtration systems, according to a written release by the Contractors State License Board.

The company is accused of pressuring about 40 families in Ventura County, and the Ventura County district attorney’s office has also charged Vergara and two employees in the case.
