The Planning Commission is scheduled to decide tonight whether a scaled-down proposal for a housing tract on Adams Avenue would suit the Mesa Verde area.

Standard Pacific, a Costa Mesa-based builder, reduced the number of homes it planned from 90 to 69 after the Planning Commission and City Council both rejected the firm’s original proposals last spring.

Mesa Verde homeowners heavily opposed the initial project, saying they were concerned about increases in traffic and clashes with the neighborhood’s character.
