SAN CLEMENTE
The City Council has approved urban runoff diversion projects for two beach access paths.
The council last week approved the installment of collection pipes and drains in the paths, which also serve as railroad underpasses, at Plaza la Playa and near Linda Lane Park.
The pipes will take water flow from storm drains to city sewer lines, where the runoff can be treated at the city’s sewage treatment facility.
Currently, storm drain flow floods the underpasses with contaminated water and pollutants and pours out onto the beaches.
