TV news reporter Adrienne Alpert, who suffered life-threatening burns in a May 22 accident, was listed in good condition Tuesday after what doctors said could be her final surgery.

During the 90-minute procedure, four surgeons at the Grossman Burn Center removed unhealthy tissue and grafted skin onto wounded areas of her arms and legs, said Larry Weinberg, a spokesman for Sherman Oaks Hospital and Medical Center.

Surgeons were optimistic that Alpert, 48, will not need further surgery, Weinberg said. She could be released from the hospital early next week.

Doctors previously amputated Alpert’s left arm at the elbow and her right leg below the knee.

The veteran journalist suffered severe burns when the antenna of the KABC-TV broadcast van she was in came near a 34,500-volt power line and touched off an explosion.
