MAI Systems Names Surdez to VP Post

Richard J. Surdez has been named vice president, sales and marketing for Irvine-based MAI Systems Corp.’s Process Manufacturing division in Tarrytown, N.Y. He joined the company from Canon USA, where he was most recently business development manager with the Visual Communications Systems division.

* Barry Pierce has been appointed general manager of Roy’s of Newport Beach. He was formerly general manager of the Daily Grill at LAX for three years and before that was general manager of the Ritz and Yankee Tavern restaurants. In addition, Christopher Garnier was named executive chef. He had been with Roy’s restaurants in Hawaii for 11 years.

* Joanna Van Oss has joined Strategic HR Services in Newport Beach as national director. Previously, she was president of the largest division of CareerStaff Unlimited and Therapists Unlimited.
