Child Support Put at $19,270 for Boxer Evander Holyfield

Former heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield must pay $19,270 a month in child support for his 7-year-old daughter, a state appeals panel ruled.

The panel upheld a Superior Court judge’s decision to increase Holyfield’s monthly support for his daughter Emani by more than $10,000. Emani, one of the boxer’s nine children, lives in the Los Angeles area with her mother, Ia Brown.

Associate Justice Margaret Grignon also dismissed a cross-appeal from Brown, who was seeking monthly payments of about $39,000.

Holyfield asked the 2nd District Court of Appeal to find that the lower court abused its discretion in determining the child support amount. But Grignon held that given Holyfield’s average yearly income of $10 million, he could have been asked to pay even more--as much as $51,000 a month.

The $19,720 a month includes $2,070 for clothing, $3,500 for travel and vacations and $500 for toys.
