Two Orange County firms have teamed up to help the corporate world deal with the growing number of workers surfing the Internet--checking stock prices, shopping, even gambling online--when they should be working.

As part of the arrangement, Strategic HR Services, a Newport Beach firm that offers human resource consulting and services to companies, will incorporate technology provided by Log-On Data Corp., an Internet filtering company based in Orange. Log-On Data has created X-Stop, which restricts employee access to Internet content.

In addition to wasting time, workers that send personal e-mails or call up Web sites with pornography can trigger lawsuits alleging sexual harassment or a hostile work environment, said Kelly Rodnon, marketing manager of Log-On Data.

Log-On will provide Strategic HR’s consulting services as well as its products, which include record-keeping tools and payroll systems.

Terms of the partnership are being finalized.
