Neighborhood Panel Needs Members

Share

One of the four neighborhood councils, which advise the City Council on neighborhood issues, needs more members, a city official said Thursday.

Members of the four councils representing four sections of Simi Valley started their terms July 1. But Neighborhood Council No. 4, which represents the area east of Stearns Street to the city limit, is short of members.

While eight spots have already been filled--one above the minimum needed for a quorum--city officials prefer to have a dozen members so meetings can still be held when some members are unavailable.

The other three councils average 12 or 13 members.

To attract new members, the city has opened a second application period to recruit four or five more members to represent the east end of the city.
