Children at Anaheim’s low-income motels are going hungry this summer because of a donation shortfall, representatives from the Orange County Rescue Mission say. Jim Palmer, president of the group, said gifts to the nonprofit organization have plummeted since January and reserve funds are depleted. As a result, the Rescue Mission has already cut back on food bank programs to five Anaheim motels. Palmer said the programs will stop if the shortfall of $300,000 continues.

Deborah Gray, manager of the El Dorado and Valencia Inn motels, reports that the cut in donations has affected children whose families live there. In addition, because school breaks for summer, children cannot rely on free breakfast and lunch programs. Information: (714) 258-4450.
