David L. Salazar; Retired Sheet Metal Worker

Santa Paula native David L. Salazar, a retired sheet metal worker, died Wednesday at his home. He was 63.

He was born June 20, 1937, in Santa Paula where he grew up, attended school and graduated from Santa Paula High School.

Salazar enlisted in the Air Force and served for four years. After his military service, he began a job as a sheet metal worker and retired as a journeyman after 25 years.

Salazar is survived by his wife of 43 years, Aurora; daughters Catherine Medina, Denise Irie, Judy Reynosa; sisters Alice Herrera, Belen Whittenberg of Missouri, Estella Arellano, Ida Mariscal, Bonnie Rivera and Irma Lamey; brothers Joe, Leonard, Johnny, Frankie and Junior Salazar; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his brother Manuel and a granddaughter, Kiana Irie.

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Pierce Bros. Stetler Chapel in Santa Paula. A wake will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Santa Paula.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jose Vindel officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Bros. Stetler Mortuary in Santa Paula.
