No Leads in Lightning-Fast Jewel Theft

Share

It took about 30 seconds for a quartet of professional thieves in a Newport Beach parking lot to get away with several cases of jewelry worth about $250,000 on Wednesday, police said, but days later there are still no leads.

A pair of wholesale jewelry salespeople making their last call of the day had left their black 2000 Honda Accord locked, with the alarm on, in front of at 3433 Via Lido. While they were in the store, witnesses said, four thieves broke into the trunk and drove off with the jewelry.

The four suspects are described as male Latinos in their 30s. They were last seen driving a white 2000 Chevrolet Malibu with both license plates folded down.
