The Planning Commission is scheduled Wednesday to decide whether to approve a request from a parking lot owner to operate the lot commercially.
The lot, at 170 to 190 Beach St., is owned by John Gallegos. Commercial parking lots ease the tourist-car crunch, said John Montgomery, city assistant community development department director.
The lots are currently open for people to park without cost. If the request is approved, the surplus of parking for a nearby health-food store and barbershop will be reduced.
The commission will meet at 7 p.m. in City Hall, 505 Forest Ave.
