The City Council has approved paying for a $224,924 project study report on the Ortega Highway-Interstate 5 interchange.
City Manager George Scarborough said the intersection is the city’s “critical traffic point.”
“[The interchange] is responsible for not only the obvious congestion at Del Obispo and Ortega Highway,” he said. “When it backs up traffic at that intersection, that causes people to use alternative routes, increasing traffic [elsewhere in the city]. It is the No. 1 priority for San Juan.”
