What: 21st National Sports Collectors Convention

Where: Anaheim Convention Center

When: Thursday through Sunday

Even if standing in line to pay for an autograph isn’t your thing, this four-day convention has plenty to offer.

Not only will there be more than 60 sports celebrities to gawk at, you can spend a day or two inspecting all the memorabilia. Of course, it’s for sale.

General admission is $12. On Thursday, kids 15 and under are free, and so are autographs for everyone from the Angels’ Troy Glaus and Edgard Clemente. There’s also a $99 VIP package that includes autographs, early admission and gifts.

Baseball fanatic Pete Bonfils, for one, can’t wait. The longtime batting practice pitcher for the Dodgers, who pitched briefly in the minor leagues for the Angel organization, remembers attending this convention when it was at Anaheim in 1991.

“I loved it,” he said. “This year I’m taking a couple of thousand dollars to spend on memorabilia. I’m not looking for items to make money on; I’m looking for keepsakes.”

Baseball legends committed to attending include Johnny Bench, Stan Musial, Johnny Podres, Brooks Robinson, Duke Snider, Warren Spahn and many more. From basketball, there will be John Wooden, Bill Walton, Magic Johnson, Bill Sharman, Clipper draft picks Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson, and Laker pick Mark Madsen. Boxing greats such as Roberto Duran and Jake LaMotta will be there too, as will wrestling stars Kevin Nash, Bret “Hit Man” Hart and the Honky Tonk Man.

The show is open to the public Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Details: (877) 5-NATIONAL.
