Kmart Names New Head of Store Operations

Kmart Corp.’s new chairman and chief executive disclosed more changes at the retail giant just a day after announcing that 72 stores will close. CEO Charles Conaway said that Andy Giancamilli has been promoted to the new position of president and chief operating officer. Giancamilli will be responsible for all aspects of merchandising, store operations, marketing and logistics. Kmart also said 29-year Kmart veteran Donald Keeble, now president of store operations, will retire. Conaway, former president and chief operating officer at CVS, took the helm at Troy, Mich.-based Kmart on May 31. Kmart’s shares fell 38 cents to close at $7 on the NYSE.
