City Council members have voted to provide $21,000 in grants to community service organizations and $18,000 to cultural arts programs throughout the city. The community service grants will benefit a housing outreach organization and programs for the elderly and needy children, among others. The cultural arts grants will go to theater, music, performing arts and similar programs.

Requests for funding will be reviewed by a city subcommittee. The highest priority is given to organizations and programs that benefit the greatest number of Laguna Niguel residents. Grants are available to nonprofit organizations only.

Funding applications must be received by 5 p.m. Aug. 25 at City Hall, 27801 La Paz Road. The City Council will award grants by Nov. 3. Information: (949) 362-4300.
