Re Susan King’s article “The Greatest Stories Ever Told, or So Say the Posters” (May 14):

The “one-sheet” is indeed the most common size of U.S. film poster, but it is not 11x14 inches in size as the article states; 11x14 is the approximate size for lobby cards. One-sheets are generally 27x40, though they were slightly larger during the era under discussion, when they were still printed with borders.

Author Lawrence Bassoff claims that in “Hercules Unchained” the hero never pushes the walls apart, as depicted in the poster. What movie was he watching? The hero does indeed hold the massive gates apart so that he and his men can escape the lair of the evil queen.
